Vivint Security Review
Finding a good security system for your home, office or factory can be a very difficult task. This is because the market is literally flooded with different ones offering amazing features. Basically, we are spoilt for choice. However, some systems are clearly better than others with more superior features and perks to the user.
One such system is the Vivint Security System. It functions not only as an alarm and security system but also as a home and office automation system and this is what makes it so amazing.
Vivint security features
Vivint security has some pretty amazing features. These enable it to compete with other bigwig brands in the business. The specifications include:
This is one of the most basic yet most important features of the system. It makes the system sensitive to large object motion with an alarm trigger to notify you when there is an intruder. This feature works best for business premises that are left empty overnight but it is also useful in home settings.
Door and window sensors with alarm
These two are designed to deter unauthorized entry into the premises. They are sensitive to attempted forced entry, breakages and lock picking.
Smoke detector and alarm
The fire detection system responds to smoke and sounds an alarm when there is danger. You can also set the system to notify police and firefighters when this particular alarm goes off.
Touch screen panel control
This is the main user interface and allows you to do things like setting or disabling the alarm, changing passwords and many other control actions. The fact that tit is touchscreen is a major bonus in that it adds aesthetic value and is much easier to use than old button systems. It is also harder to lift finger prints for hacking the system when you use a touchscreen panel control.
The home security package is offered on a 3-5 year contract at $54 per month. This is ideal for people who have set down permanent roots and are not likely to move out of their current homes any time soon. Installation costs $99 dollars and is done
Round the clock support
The system is constantly monitored all day and every day. This means that no irregularity will go unnoticed and this makes the system absolutely efficient.
Remote alerts and notifications
You can have the system synchronized with your phone, laptop or tablet. This allows you to keep an eye on things when you are away. It also sends alerts to you via email or text when there is something that is of interest like an attempted breaking or a fire.
Smart home services
This feature automates parts of normal house and office functions. It includes remote door access, indoor and outdoor surveillance video recording and garage door control. All these enhance security for the home or office. The smart home feature also controls things like air conditioners and heaters using the smart temperature control system.
Comparison with other systems
1. Vivint vs ADT
The two systems share some features including the remote access and notification, 24/7 monitoring, smoke detection and door and window sensors. ADT, however, lacks the motion sensor and smart home feature but compensates by having a handy backup power source. In terms of price, ADT is the more affordable option costing $ 36.99 per month
2. Vivint vs Frontpoint
These two features basically have the same features. The only difference is that the Vivint System includes smart home features including the remote door access and outdoor surveillance. In terms of price, Frontpoint is cheaper costing only $34.99 per month.
3. Vivint vs Simplisafe
The features of these two systems are more or less the same. The only difference is in price and packages offered. Unlike Vivint, Simplisafe does not limit users with long term contracts. It is therefore the better option for people who move around a lot. Simplisafe is also way cheaper costing $14.99 per month
4. Vivint vs Alarm.com
The Vivant system has a lot of advantages over the Alarm.com system including the motion and entry sensors, the smart home feature and the environmental sensitivity capability. Alarm.com, however, is a bit more stable in that unlike Vivant, it uses its own independent communication network instead of piggybacking on cellular and internet networks. In terms of price, Alarm.com is cheaper at $ 18.99- $24.99 per month per month.
5. Vivint vs Protection One
Protection One is one of the very best systems in the industry. Like Vivint, it is both an alarm and home automation system. In terms of security, the two systems share all the features. Protection One, however, has a better smart home system with additional features including light control and smartphone alerts for when your doorbell ring. In terms of price the two are also relatively similar depending on the Protection One packages whose prices range from $34.99 to $54.99 per month.
After all is said and done, there is no denying that the Vivint Security System is one of the best in the industry. Despite being more expensive than most, it is worth every penny as you are guaranteed protection for a very long time.
